Spousal Support (Alimony)

Unlike child support, the statutes do not give direction to the court for ordering spousal support – not in direct numbers or percentages. The statutes do give an outline of all the items a court should consider when ordering one spouse to pay spousal support to the other, including the parties’ finances, the assets available, the length of the marriage, and several additional guidelines.
